ICT Training

February 21, 2009 by Genesis Leave a Comment

We do not only make available ICTs. We also provide training on how to use the technologies through our Training Centres.

Training is a major component of our work. Since 2003, HINT has trained more than 600 youths and community members to be able to use the computer and Internet. So many of our trainees have been able to gain employment as well as access the world of opportunities that the Internet offers. This way, we are contributing in a significant way to bridging the digital divide between the developed and developing countries. We provide training at our centres, and also in the clients? offices. Here is a rundown of the courses we offer:

Basic Training

Our Basic Training Program lasts for 10 weeks, covering a total of 150 hours. Classes runs from 8:00am-11:00am and from 6:00pm-9:00pm

  • Computer Basics
  • MS Windows
  • Internet
  • Emailing
  • MS Word
  • MS Excel
  • MS Access
  • MS PowerPoint

Advanced Training

  • Web Design (HTML and CSS)
  • Networking (A+ Certification)
  • Hardware & Software Maintenance
  • Desktop Publishing (MS Publisher and QuarkExpress)
  • Photo editing (Adobe PhotoShop)
  • Computerized Accounting

Our History

February 20, 2009 by Genesis Leave a Comment

In 1998, a young man shabbily dressed and looking very dirty approached Mr. Genesis Tinshu, founder of HINT. He almost ran for fear that the young man was insane and was trying to attack  him. Then he noticed that the young man was showing him a piece of paper signed by a prominent law officer. According to the document, he had been released from prison. He was in need of financial assistance to re-unite with his family in a far distant city. Thank God, Mr. Genesis had some money on him that could buy some food and also help pay his way home. Genesis took him to a nearby bus station and saw him off.

Then Mr. Genesis began to wonder what would happen to him when he gets home. Would he be accepted? Would he adjust properly to life outside, after 7 years of imprisonment? How long would the little money he gave him last? Would he be able to live a sustainable life? Mr. Genesis hoped he could empower him to live a responsible life that will prevent future imprisonment.

Later that same year, Mr. Genesis went back to prison to visit and surprisingly he met the same young man and he was behind bars for a fresh crime. He ignored him when he called out to him the first time but felt deeply for him and wished he could help him.

Towards the middle of that same year, Mr. Genesis came to know two young ladies and both were students. They were being sexually exploited by married men in exchange for their education. Poverty had driven them this far. I felt for them and wished I could immediately help them out. If they could operate a self-reliant business, that will help to sustain them and free them from sexual molestation.

Helps International (HINT) Cameroon was then created in 2002 to improving on the social and economic well-being and health of the poor and underprivileged in the society through education, skills development and job creation.

If you would like to help you can read more on how you can help, or contact us.

Thank you for supporting Helps International (HINT) in 2008

December 31, 2008 by Genesis Leave a Comment

On behalf of all of us at Helps International (HINT) Cameroon (https://www.hintonline.org) I would like to take this opportunity to say ‘Thank You’ for generously supporting our work in 2008. Without you, we would not have accomplished as much as we did and we thought it would be good to let you know that we value your contributions to the work we are doing.

We are currently working on our 2008 annual report and as soon as it is ready, we will share it with you.

We look forward to your continuous support in 2009 even as the world’s economy is experiencing an economic depression. We believe that together we can still make a huge difference.

We wish you a very prosperous New Year 2009 and pray that all goes well with you, including everyone and everything related to you.

Sincerely,
–

Marie-Toni Tinshu born on March 3, 2008

March 28, 2008 by Genesis Leave a Comment

With praise to God and gratitude in our our hearts, we are pleased to let you know that Marie-Toni Tinshu was born on March 3, 2008 at 7:38pm South Africa Time (6:38pm Cameroon time):

Weight = 2.6kg

Height = 49cm

Head = 31cm

Despite the limited access we hav to internet and the nature of our studies, we are still determined to keep you informed.

Marie-Toni is a miracle baby because she was coming to the outside world without labour pains and so the doctors had to do a C-Section on Marceline for her to be out!! They were discharged from the Pretoria Academic (University) Hospital on March 5 and they are home enjoying the Lord and doing very well. Marceline is recovering very fast from the surgery.

Marie Catto is the wife of Dr. Graham and she has been so gracious to us since we arrived here. When Marceline felt uneasy and I called Paul, he came with his wife Toni (nurse) who was so help and knew exactly what to do with the prolapsing cord that saved the baby’s life. That is why the baby’s first name is Marie-Toni, just in case you were wondering why that name.

Her middle name will be Wonderwerk meaning Miracle in Afrikaans. While I was at home wondering what her middle name should be, I felt God say Miracle. The following day when I went to the hospital, Marceline said, why can’t the child’s name be Miracle in Afrikaans. That was a perfect confirmation. So, the full name will be Marie-Toni Wonderwerk Tinshu. Isn’t that lovely!!

Wouldn’t you join us in praising the Lord for this wonderful Miracle!

I trust the Lord to be able to share other ministry prayer needs with you in the days ahead, God-willing.
